A New Year Awaits

Ready or not, here it comes! Never has there been a new year come along with as much trepidation as 2009. In the midst of financial turmoil, roller coaster oil & gas prices, a new President, company bail outs, company closings, lay offs, etc. we turn the calendar page over to a new year. Some of you may face the year with excitement. Others may have fears about what the new year holds. Thank goodness in the midst of it all, Jesus is still alive and well and sitting on the right hand of the Father.

I don’t know about you, but I just can’t picture Jesus sitting on the edge of His chair biting His fingernails wondering what’s going to happen next. I can’t imagine Him whispering to the Father “I don’t know how they will make it through this time!” He does know what will happen next and He cares intimately about each one of us.

I’m reminded of a story in II Chronicles 20. The Israelites were about to be attacked by a great army. The odds looked insurmountable. Jehoshaphat gathered the people together to fast and pray. He closed his prayer by saying: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”

After his prayer it says, “All the men of Judah , with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before the LORD.”

Isn’t that the way life is? Sometimes we simply don’t know what to do or what is going to happen next. Even after we pray, all we know how to do is to wait on the Lord.

Take time to read this story and see how the Lord came through for the Israelites. No matter what you may be facing in this new year, the Lord will see you through also. I’m reminded of a quote from one of our founders, Dean Kerns. “God will see you through—not somehow, but triumphantly.”

All of us at Blessings Unlimited wish you a new year blessed by the Lord and for a testimony at the end of the year that proclaims how God brought you through 2009 triumphantly!
